We welcome you to our working Ranch located in the
beautiful
Flint Hills of Kansas. Come stay with us at the Heritage House.
which was originally built in 1903 and currently is being remodeled,
keeping the flavor of the Victorian House along with enjoying all the
modern Amenities.
The Downes Family has owned this beautiful home and
property
since 1951. It was remodeled in 1949 when at that time three rooms
were removed from the home. The current remodel started in 2007
after the Matriarch and Patriarch of our family, John and Connie
Downes passed it on to the next generation of family. Their lives were
lived rich in our families Heritage. We want to share our Ranch
with others so that many can come experience the Serenity and
Beauty that abounds here.
We are now taking reservations for June
2008 and beyond
Heritage House is surrounded by 560 acres which is
currently being
reseeded back to Grass. 150 acres of the land is still being used as
crop land. Our goal is to preserve our Native Wildlife which include
Quail, Geese, Grouse, Deer and Fishing. The Ranch has two Ponds
and Canning Creek flows through her land.
Currently the Ranch runs a Cow/Calf Operation and has 50
head of
Boer X Spanish Goats. "Pony"........who actually is a Pony resides on the
Ranch and loves to get attention and was trained to pull a cart. Our
Ostrich, Galiath, is a fun novelty to see
